What type of experience is Wallace & Gromit in the Grand Getaway? And Jamtastic!?
The Grand Getaway is an interactive, narrative-led VR experience for the Meta Quest which will take fans on a brand-new adventure with much-loved characters Wallace and Gromit. Step into their shoes and blast off on a joyful narrative VR adventure that will transport you from the warmth of West Wallaby Street to the dangers of Deep Space!🚀
Jamtastic! is a mixed reality game that calls on YOU (and your room) to test Wallace’s latest ‘jam to toast’ delivery contraption, in an experience that is part shooting gallery and part joyful mess maker!
Jamtastic!, is launching as part of the Wallace & Gromit in The Grand Getaway experience.
What are the experiences about?
In The Grand Getaway, Wallace and Gromit are preparing for a well-earned golfing getaway. As they get ready with their new contraption Auto-Caddy and their assistant Beryl, they quickly realize that Wallace had his dates mixed up, and that the only way to make it to Bognor Regis golfing resort on time is by taking the Rocket. But ever the maker of his own misfortune, Wallace soon causes mayhem with a clumsy mishap which sends their Rocket flying off course to Mars, where their adventure begins. The immersive experience unfolds across twelve distinct chapters, allowing users to play as AutoCaddy, Gromit, and Wallace as they navigate a cinematic virtual reality experience full of the interactions that make VR so fun and unique.
And for an adventure a little closer to home, enjoy Jamtastic! – a mixed reality game (MR) where players themselves are the stars. With Wallace away on his Grand Getaway he needs them (and their living room) to put his new ‘jam-to-toast delivery system’ through its paces. With the assistance of his ‘helping hands’ that takeover and transform your real-world space, and regular check-ins from Wallace as he beams into your home live from his Grand Getaway, you will be guided through 30 unique levels of jamtastic fun. Tackle a torrent of toasted targets and prove yourself a Top Tester. Just try not to make too much of a mess…

At this moment we are releasing only for Meta Quest, but we always like to evaluate and consider other platforms to release on!

How long is the experience?
Wallace & Gromit in The Grand Getaway is a 12 chapter’s experience, about 120 minutes long.
Jamtastic! As a mixed reality game is a replayable experience, each level is about 2 minutes long.
Who are the creators behind the experience?
Wallace & Gromit in The Grand Getaway and Jamtastic! are a co-production between Aardman, Atlas V, in association with No Ghost and Albyon, with the support of immersive distributor and publisher Astrea and the Meta Quest team, and for Jamtastic!, the German producer Reynard Films.
Finbar Hawkins and Bram Ttwheam are co-directing the experience for Aardman with the support of Academy Award® winner and creator of Wallace & Gromit, Nick Park, and Wallace & Gromit Creative Director Merlin Crossingham.
Ben Whitehead will again voice Wallace, as he has done for previous Wallace & Gromit projects, following in the footsteps of the late Peter Sallis. We also count on the talented Miriam Margolyes to voice Beryl.
Does the experience support hand-tracking?
Yes, both experiences support hand-tracking.
What kind of locomotion is there in the experience?
The Grand Getaway can be played sitting or standing. A stationary guardian will be enough as you’ll only have to grab things within reach and you won’t have to move around, assuring the most comfortable experience possible.
Jamtastic! Is a mixed reality experience that will have you move around your living room and shoot jam at toast. Make sure to have a room scale boundary of 3m by 3,5m. Jamtastic! is played standing.
